Sorrento Exhibition | Leonardo and the fantastic Renaissance

A journey through Renaissance to retrace the extraordinary life of Leonardo da Vinci. In absolute exclusive, Líautoritratto lucano, a self-portrait of the grand maestro and the reproductions of various machines designed by Da Vinci.

Plus, on display are works by Donatello, Raffaello, Tintoretto, some works by Giovanni Della Robbia, coming from the Museo Bellini in Florence, among which two sculptures of Dante and Petrarca and other masterpieces of the masters of the Italian mannerist school, big hangings and the puppets of Florentine tradition. The exhibition wants to investigate the theme of a genius through its many forms, in a century-old journey, along the historical and artistic stages of painting and mannerist sculpture. A mix of fantasies, false interpretations and mysteries characterizes this original itinerary where art is science

Lighting up of the Christmas illuminations and the big Christmas Tree with Alex the Lion from the film ìMadagascar 2?.

31st Edition of the Professional Days of Cinema event; national premiËre of the new Dreamworks film ìMadagascar 2?; 4 days of film premiËres at the Armida Theatre in Sorrento. Admission by invitation.

Thursday 4/12/2008 at 7 pm – Villa Fiorentino
Inauguration of the Show ìNaples, art capital from the 1950s to todayî, a painting exhibition organized by the art gallery, Arteteka, of Torre del Greco. The Show will be open daily from 9 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 9 pm until 8th January 2009. Entrance free.

Saturday 6/12/2008 at 8.30 pm – Tasso Theatre
Jazz concert ìHomage to the great Max Roachî with Tullio De Piscopo and his band. Guest star the American vibraphone player, Dave Samuels. Entrance free.

Sunday 7/12/2008 at 8.30 pm – Sala Consiliare of Sorrento Town Hall
The Small Sorrento Orchestra in ìNeapolitan Concertî, a selection of Neapolitan music and songs. Free entrance.

Friday 12/12/2008 at 8.30 pm – Tasso Theatre
Concert with Oscar winner Luis Bacalov accompanied by the ìGiuseppe Tartiniî Orchestra. Entrance free.

Saturday 13/12/2008 at 8.30 pm – Hall of the Tourist Office Sorrento/SantíAgnello
The Small Sorrento Orchestra in Concert with ìCinema Serenadeî, a selection of film music. Entrance free.

Friday 19/12/2008 at 8.30 pm – Tasso Theatre
Gigi Finizio in concert. Admission by invitation.

Saturday 27/12/2008 at 8.30 pm – Tasso Theatre
The ìNuova Orchestra Scarlattiî in concert with classical and contemporary music. Entrance free.

Sunday 28/12/2008 at 8 pm – Sorrento Cathedral
The Small Sorrento Orchestra in concert with ìChristmas Foreverî, a selection of Christmas music. Entrance free.

Tuesday 30/12/2008 from 6 pm – Itinerant Parade
A parade with the University of Nebraska – Kearney (USA) band; an itinerant show through the streets of Sorrento with finale in Piazza Tasso. Followed by entertainment with the lighting up of the ìDonkey of fireî and a rendition of the ìSong of New Yearî with the partecipation of the members of the public.

Wednesday 31/12/2008 at 11 am – Sala Consiliare of Sorrento Town Hall
Classical music concert from the Symphony Orchestra of the Sorrento Concert Society. Entrance free.

Thursday 1st January 2009 from 00.01 am – Quayside of Marina Piccola
Firework display in the Bay.

Saturday 03/01/2009 at 5 pm – Sala Consiliare of Sorrento Town Hall
Christmas concert by the Youth Orchestra ìA.T.S. Sorrento jazz ATS Associationî.
